Wreck It Ralph is cut from the same cloth as Toy Story. When the video arcade closes and the humans go home, all of the characters inside the games break away from play-mode and socialise outside of their consoles. Travelling through the power cords they are able to come and go between games and they converge at Game Central Station (the electrical mains). Ralph is the classic bag guy in a Donkey Kong style game but he's sick of being feared and treated second class and he leaves his world in search of recognition. This is a super fun movie that is guaranteed to amuse the adults as much as the kids. The characters are all familiar... from PacMan & Bowser to Sonic & Kano. There is heaps to love about Wreck It Ralph and its one of the better Pixar movies. I wasn't a huge fan of Up or Wall-E and Cars 2 was terrible and so seeing them return to quality storytelling is reassuring. As I mentioned, its essentially Toy Story from a new angle and the references are hilarious. The movie sags in the middle but does manage to pick itself up for a fantastic final act. Great entertainment... especially for geeks and fanboys out there.... "GOOD GAME!" LOL
CORRECTION: As pointed out by a reader, Wreck it Ralph is not a Pixar film. It is part of the Disney Animation Classics collection. My brain goes all Pixar when I see John Lasster's name.
