![]() I was a big fan of The Collector and you can read my review here. Tonight I sat down to watch the sequel, The Collection, but at the spur of the moment I decided to revisit the first movie again. Yeah, so I have work in the morning... Fuck it!! I'm a bad-ass and that's how I roll. And so a double feature, it was. Im glad I caught up with the first one because this new movie picks up almost directly after the first. There are a few details I wouldn't have remembered had I watched The Collection on it's own. As my other review mentions, the first flick plays out like Richard Ramirez starring in Home Alone. A large farmhouse rigged with deadly booby traps. This sequel steps it up a notch and we're on the killer's home turf. He resides in an large abandoned Hotel where he keeps his chosen ones and butchers the rest. The opening sequence is awesomely brutal with an instant body-count in the hundreds. It's a blood-bath to get gore-hounds hard. The survivor from the first movie is forced back into the killer's lair to rescue a girl. Her father has hired a team of head-hunters to get the job done. Of course this is a horror movie and people will be maimed. While The Collection doesn't reach the heights of its prequel, it still delivers the goods. Creative traps, vicious kills and a great finale that actually has you thirsting for more. If they go ahead with a third movie then they've left themselves a fantastic and original construct to work with. Finger's crossed! This one should please most horror fans but it will definitely appeal to the gore-fiends moreso.
