The most positive thing I can say about Scream 4 is that its better than Scream 3... but that's not saying much. Here we go again... stupid people doing stupid things. Wanky dialogue about "rules of horror movies" with an "edgy" modern twist. 10 years have past and this movie thinks its pretty clever working in the whole social networking angle... wrong. It's predictable and tiresome. I've never been a fan of the Scream franchise but acknowledge some cool things about the first two movies.Ultimately the scariest thing about Scream 4 is Courtney Cox's face. It's like she's got electrodes attached to her or something. And then there's Mary McDonnell's face? What the hell happened to it? Watching these two women made me feel like I was at some kind of fucked up tupperwear party. Anyhow... Horror genres come in waves that usually last 5-10 years. For example we had a spate of eerie Asian themed ghost movies like Ringu, Grudge, Dark Water etc... and then there was the spate of torture porn movies like Saw, Captivity and Hostel to name a few. We get vampire trends and zombie trends and so on. Horror goes thru cycles and The original Scream brought the slasher back into fashion with carbon copy flicks like I Know What You Did Last Summer and Urban Legend. Unfortunately it introduced a new generation to a lamer brand of slasher and now ten years later I fear that's exactly what Scream 4 is going to do. Kids, go back to the 70s and 80s vaults and check out what truly awesome slasher is all about. Scream 4 references a lot of them so do something that your friends will think is really lame..... go and educate yourself with them!! Scream 4 fail.
