![]() A PANEL OF 3 PEOPLE DETERMIND WHAT THE REST OF US CAN OR CANNOT SEE. THREE FUCKING PEOPLE!!! [INSERT ANGER] Here's the media release from the Classification Board following their refusal to grant A Serbian Film a release in Australia. MEDIA RELEASE A Serbian Film classified RC upon review A three member panel of the Classification Review Board (The Review Board) has by unanimous decision determined that the film A Serbian Film is classified RC (Refused Classification). In the Review Board's opinion, A Serbian Film could not be accommodated within the R18+ classification as the level of depictions of sexual violence, themes of incest and depictions of child sexual abuse in the film has an impact which is very high and not justified by context. Film classified RC cannot be sold, hired or advertised in Australia. The Review Board convened on Monday 19 September 2011 in response to an application form the Minster for Justice, The Hon Brendan O'Connor, to review the decision made by the Classification Board on 5 April 2011 to classify A Serbian Film R18+ (Restricted) with the consumer advice, 'high impact sexual violence, sex scenes and violence'. In reviewing the classification, the Review Board worked within the framework of the National Classification Scheme, applying the provisions of the Classification (Publications, Films and Computer Games) Act 1995, the National Classification Code and the Guidelines for the Classification of Films and Computer Games. This is the same framework used by the Classification Board. The Review Board is an independant merits review body. Meeting in camera, it makes a fresh classification decision upon receipt of an application for review. This Review Board decision takes the place of the original decision made by the Classification Board. The Review Board's reasons for this decision will appear on the Classification website when finalised. Statement authorised by Ann Stark, Classification Review Board.
